Now that the annual South Florida superyacht celebration is about to kick off at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center and Pier 66 from Wednesday, October 27 through Sunday, October 31, you can tell some things are getting back to normal. But that wouldn’t be entirely true since travel to the US from most European countries won’t really open until the first week of November. But it is okay. At least the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) has passed. And as many European brands have dedicated US offices, the show will provide a great taste of all the new designs the global yacht industry has developed during this unprecedented time.
And since the 5-day event includes the return of the Superyacht Village to Pier 66 and the premiere of the Fort Lauderdale contest, there will be plenty to see, including the following high profile world debuts from Viking Yachts, Azimut Yachts, Princess Yachts, the Ferretti group and others.
The Viking 64 Convertible which will make its world premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2021 is the second generation of this model. She is a four-cabin, three-head fishing vessel designed to shine on the tournament circuit and set the new standard in luxury, accommodations and comfort.
The Large Azimuth Trideck features three decks and four sundecks designed to be perfect for sunbathing, dining and adventure. This model is also capable of operating for long periods in silence (using battery power in “hotel mode”) while contributing to zero emissions.
The Y72 of Princess Yachts based in the UK which will make its FLIBS debut features three beautifully appointed guest cabins. A dedicated staircase leads from the main deck to the full-beam owner’s cabin which is furnished with a sofa, walk-in closet and dressing table. And the entire layout is bathed in natural light thanks to the many hull windows.
The Ferretti brand family will showcase six new models at FLIBS. I chose to present the new Riva 76 Perseo Super because its main deck is so cool. But the truth is that the other models are making their world premieres (from Ferretti YachtsRiva and Pershing) are bursting with freshness too.
The Sun Reef 80 The catamaran making its debut at this year’s show was custom-built in 2019 and refreshed in 2021. And being 80 feet long and 38 feet wide (almost exactly the same dimensions as a tennis court!) , owners and guests can enjoy over 3,700 square feet of living space on three deck levels.
And that’s just a taste. You will have to come to Fort. Lauderdale to see all the new models of Mermaid, Beneteau, Pursuit, cigarette race, sun seeker, Tiara, Intrepid, Ocean Alexanderr, Saint Laurentand many more for you
