CoD Zombies fans have been extremely disappointed with Vanguard’s lack of tower-based maps, but that should change as Treyarch has confirmed that a tower-based map is in development. However, he will not arrive in Season 3.
The basic premise of Call of Duty: Zombies is to survive wave after wave of the undead, but Call of Duty: Vanguard has changed the format significantly. Instead of traditional tower-based gameplay, players in Vanguard are tasked with completing objectives on the other side of portals.
Zombie fans were furious at the lack of tower-based maps, but Treyarch has confirmed that a tower-based map is finally on the way. But, it’s still a long way off because there won’t be any new Zombies content in Season 3.
Vanguard Season 2 brought some long-awaited zombie additions, including magic weapons and a main quest easter egg. However, Terra Maledicta’s “boring” new map has been criticized for not being turn-based.
It looks like Treyarch has taken the comments on board, announcing on April 14 that a rounds-based map is in development.
In the April 14 blog post, Treyarch was quick to temper expectations as he explained that it would take time to develop a round-based map, “we want to set the expectation upfront that it will take some time to get it into your hands. This involves extensive systems development from scratch in a variety of areas, including design, implementation, and round-based wave spawning testing.
Vanguard Zombies Shi No Numa
The blog also provides details on the new Vanguard Zombies map and World at War fans have reason to be thrilled. The tower-based map will be an updated version of Shi No Numa,”Avant-gardeZombies’ next map will be a reimagining of the entire “Shi No Numa” range first introduced in Call of Duty®: World at War.”
The updated version of Shi No Numa will contain many improvements, including “a brand new main quest and side quests, a new area to explore, a new Wonder Weapon quest” and much more that the developers have in store.
So while this is great news for Vanguard players who were still hoping the developers could transform the Zombies experience, the map won’t be coming in Season 3.
