Princess celebrating the late Gavin MacLeod on Love Boat: Travel Weekly themed cruise


Princess Cruises will be hosting a Love Boat themed cruise in February, featuring the original cast and celebrating the late Gavin MacLeod.

MacLeod, who played Captain Merrill Stubing in the long-running television series, died in May at the age of 90.

The seven-day cruise aboard the Majestic Princess will return from the Port of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera from February 26 to March 5.

Jill Whelan, who played the daughter of Captain Vicki Stubing on the series and is a Princess Cruises Celebration Ambassador, will be joined by other Love Boat cast members Cynthia Lauren Tewes (Cruise Director Julie McCoy), Bernie Kopell (Doc, ship’s medic), Fred Grandy (Purser Gopher) and Ted Lange (Bartender Isaac).

The cast will share their favorite memories from the show, take part in a variety of guest activities, and celebrate MacLeod, who has been a brand ambassador for Princess Cruises for over 35 years.

“While we always love connecting with fans, this cruise will be very special as we will also be celebrating the life and career of Gavin, our fearless frontman, who not only played my dad on TV but was a true figure as well. fatherly to me beyond the show, ”Whelan said in a statement.

The trip will coincide with MacLeod’s birthday on February 28, and will sail the Mexican Riviera route that featured prominently during the TV show’s 10 years from 1977 to 1986. The Princess ships were the flagship ships of the series.

Passengers will visit Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas.

Love Boat themed activities will include:
