In October 2014, Disney World fans had to say goodbye to Maelstrom, an attraction located in the Norwegian pavilion at EPCOT’s World Showcase, to make way for Frozen Ever After, which currently resides in the same building.
But did you know that when Frozen Ever After opened to the public it also brought a little piece of Maelstrom with it?

Maelstrom was an attraction that introduced visitors to Norwegian history as they passed Vikings, polar bears and even trolls! It was certainly a fun and unique ride, especially for guests who were interested in mythology and fantasy.
There were also adorable little puffins incorporated into the attraction that the guests loved to see. Well, even though Maelstrom closed in 2014, the puffins are still alive!
On board Frozen Ever After, if you watch the last scene, you’ll notice adorable little puffins on the side. These are the exact same puffins that were used on Maelstrom!

Let it go, once again
Find a seat aboard your boat and let the lapping waters take you through a frozen willow tree, you will rub shoulders with “rocks” – Kristoff’s family from Troll Valley – before preparing for the cold. High in the icy blue world of the Northern Mountain, the enchanting Ice Palace of Queen Elsa awaits. Behold the wonder… and keep an eye out for Anna, Olaf and a few other friends from Frozen. This enchanting celebration of “Summer Snow Day” – featuring many of your favorite tracks from Frozen – will melt even the coldest hearts!
Know before you go
This song-filled trip is a slow boat ride with descents back and forth in short waterfalls. You risk getting wet!
