Battlefield 2042 Players Unimpressed With Never-Before-Seen Map Leak

It seems no matter what DICE does, Battlefield 2042 players are unhappy. An apparent leak of an upcoming map, Exposure, is the latest thing to piss off the fan base. The map features a large canyon with plains and woods above. Apparently, an earthquake in British Columbia has exposed a secret research facility that Russia claims houses a military weapon. However, redditors are not happy with it.

One user commented: “Massive open empty map…nothing new lol.” Another wrote, ‘if the only map available in the season just strengthens the whole’ run 400m in an open field and get wiped out [sic] by campers behind the only solid wall in a mile, “I’ll drown all my hopes for this game.”

Due to the vast open spaces and prevalence of vehicles in the game, some fans want a return to closer maps like Battlefield 3’s Metro. One fan wrote, “Would love a prober [sic] CQB card, but we’ll see.”

Despite the angry comments, many fans are still hopeful that Battlefield will change in a way they feel is better. One user wrote: “Despite the terrible launch of Battlefield 2042, I [sic] I hope the game can recover, just as I hope every game improves after release.”

Fans are unhappy with the game since the open beta. And while DICE has worked hard to improve Battlefield, it’s impossible to please everyone all the time. Criticisms have been constant, such as those about the 128-player matches, the ball spread – which has since improved – and its Christmas skins. I still think Santa’s skin was awesome and you can’t change my mind.

While criticism is fair game in any creative medium, just remember not to let your passion cloud your judgment so much that you forget that developers are real people with feelings. The Halo subreddit recently had to be shut down due to its toxicity, prompting a response from its community manager.
